Early Hours
I hope you know how hard this is
For me, tonight, without you.
I can't put the feeling to words
The emptiness inside of me.
The quiet and still around me,
The darkness surrounding my body.
Tonight, I rest my head without you.
I close my eyes only to open them again,
As if to pray for your appearance,
As if to beg some higher power
To bring you back to me
To put us together again.
However my prayers shall go unanswered
As if at this later hour of yesterday
Nay, early hour of 'morrow,
The powers I look to lay dormant,
Invisible to my searching eye,
Deaf to my incessant cries.
In the darkness of the new day
My tired and aching body shall remain alone
Isolated from your sweet scent and soft touch
Waiting for the sunrise to bring you back
So I may prove the fire in my soul for you
Burns strong through nights of separation.
I hope you know how hard this is
For me, tonight, without you.
I can't put the feeling to words
The emptiness inside of me.
The quiet and still around me,
The darkness surrounding my body.
Tonight, I rest my head without you.
I close my eyes only to open them again,
As if to pray for your appearance,
As if to beg some higher power
To bring you back to me
To put us together again.
However my prayers shall go unanswered
As if at this later hour of yesterday
Nay, early hour of 'morrow,
The powers I look to lay dormant,
Invisible to my searching eye,
Deaf to my incessant cries.
In the darkness of the new day
My tired and aching body shall remain alone
Isolated from your sweet scent and soft touch
Waiting for the sunrise to bring you back
So I may prove the fire in my soul for you
Burns strong through nights of separation.
